Figure Drawing

Here are some sketches from lasts night’s Drink and Draw. These were all done with a soft 2B pencil in my sketchbook.

Here’s a drawing I just completed, and wanted to throw it up onto the blog. This started as part of a drawing contest for Dare2Draw, which is a monthly 15-30 min drawing challenge based on an assigned topic. This month was Beauty and the Beast, and I decided to go with a riff on King Kong. Unfortunately after 30 minutes my page was filled mostly with a scribbley under drawing. So I decided to take it home and finish it up with a brush.

So I’ve been working on re-designing my logo for a while now. Often I think designing for yourself is harder than working with a client, just because there aren’t any restrictions. While I like the previous version, it’s definitely in need of a refresher. You can see it there at the top of the blog.
These are the different versions that I’ve come up with thus far. There are a couple that I like better than the others, but I’d like to see if I can find some unbiased opinions.
Anyways here they are:

This made me laugh. Also, there’s some nice photoshop work going on here.

Life of a Cartoonist

Hey All - It’s been a while since I posted artwork, so I thought it was time to show off some of my latest progress with Athanor. I recently finished my first pass through the script. Since then, I have been revisiting some of the earlier pages in the book, with the intent of getting all of the art up to the same level of finish. there’s still work to be done, but everything is really coming together, which is nice.

Anyways, here’s an example of what I’m talking about. With some more varied line weights and shadows, I though this page was much improved

Really dug this short little comic. Great expressive line work.
